| At Barwell Alpacas we
are small scale family run Alpaca stud. We are very happy for people to
contact us about these enchanting animals and visits to the stud in Surrey
can be arranged by appointment. We are happy discuss what you need to
start up your own herd as a viable small business, or whether you want
to keep these delightful creatures as pets. You may already have other grazing animals and are interested in hearing how you can successfully mix alpacas into this, or are starting off completely fresh and want to know what it takes! This is a growing special interest area, whether for hobbyists or business basis, and offers considerable scope for both. Alpacas are kept for many reasons, Many keep them as a business and some people keep them as fibre producers and sell the fibre or produce top end luxury garments for sale. Others keep them as exotic pets or even as companions to horses, They are useful for keeping the grass down without poaching the ground with their soft padded feet. Alpacas are extremely easy to keep and can be maintained on a very low acreage with an average of 6 to an acre. We are members of the South East Alpaca Group which provides networking opportunities which we can help you with too – if we can’t help you there are people we know who can!
